Operation Ward 57
Last year, Ohev Sholom committed to helping a wounded warrior's family for Christmas. We worked with Operation Ward 57, a veterans group which supports wounded, injured and ill service members, veterans, their caregivers and those that aid in their recovery. The group provides assistance and support for their recovery, comfort and morale, and advocates and promotes their circumstances.
Each year, Operation Ward 57 sponsors an Adopt A Family program which pairs a wounded, injured or ill service member and their family or Gold Star Family with a civilian organization for Christmas. You may refer to their website for any FAQ and requirements at http://operationward57.org/holiday/
This year, our synagogue is adopting Justin R's family for Christmas. Justin is an active duty Army wounded warrior now at Bethesda Naval/Walter Reed. Justin was a convoy truck driver in Afghanistan and had a very long deployment. He has 5 children: G (5 , Male), R (9, Female), S (11, Female), J (11, Male), and J (15, Male).
We have put together an Amazon Christmas list here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/2XVSQ1KUEKUEB/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_1
Please click on a gift to purchase and it will be sent to Ohev where we will wrap it and give some to Justin to take home with him when he leaves for the Christmas holiday and some we will send.
