Beltway Vaad Tisha B'Av Program: Rabbinic Responses to Tragedy
Sunday, August 11, 2019 • 10 Av 5779
2:00 PM - 4:00 PMKehilat Pardes (13300 Arctic Avenue, Rockville)Tisha B'Av commemorates the destruction of both Temples as well as Jewish suffering throughout the ages. How might we respond to the destruction of the Temple, the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Shoah, Pittsburgh and Poway? In a generation in which so much abuse - both within our own community and in the world - is being brought to light, how do we ensure a healthy view of our selves and our community? What do the texts of our Rabbis in exile have to teach us about responding to trauma? Where is there room for forgiveness? For Teshuva? Or for healing? Join us as we explore how our tradition's texts address these questions.
