The book of Deuteronomy is Moses' goodbye speech to the nation he has led out of Egypt and through the desert for 40 years. In the beginning of his speech, Moses selectively retells some of the stories that happened earlier in the Torah, including stories of the Israelites' greatest moments of sin. In this four-series class, Maharat Ruth will examine the differences between the originals and the retelling of the stories of the golden calf, the spies, and the reason that Moses cannot enter the land, to shed light on what it means to teach future generations about the challenges of one's past and how best to transmit history.
