Mikvah
A mikvah is a pool of water from a natural source, traditionally used for rituals such as purification and conversion. If you have questions about immersing in the mikvah, please email Rabbanit Sara Wolkenfeld at rabbanit@ohevdc.org.
Hours
Mikvah Chaim is open by appointment only. Please email the mikvah to make an appointment. The fee per immersion is $25 for members / $36 for non-members.
Please make all appointments at least 48 hours in advance. If you would like to make an appointment with less than 48 hours advance notice, or if you need special accommodations of any kind, please contact Rabbanit Wolkenfeld at Rabbanit@ohevdc.org.
How to find the Mikvah
The entrance to the women’s mikvah is located at the south side of the grand stairs on 16th street. There is a path leading from 16th Street directly to the mikvah entrance. You may also park in the Ohev Sholom parking lot behind the synagogue and walk along the back and south side of the building. This area is well-lit and monitored by security cameras.
When you reach the door, please ring the bell. The mikvah attendant will then buzz you inside. If the attendant does not answer then please wait a minute and buzz again.
Certification
Our mikvah is maintained according to the standards of Rabbi David Wolkenfeld under the rabbinic guidance of Rabbi Trieger of Mikvah Israel of Brooklyn, NY, which supports the establishment and rebuilding of mikvaot in communities across America. If you have any questions please contact Rabbi Wolkenfeld at rabbi@ohevdc.org.
